Research

My current research is on organisational implementation of ICT in the health care sector. Further I investigate how effects can be used to support the organisational implementation for the benefit of users, health care organisations and hopefully also the patients.

I see the implementation process as a mutual adaptation of technology and organisation. My research focus on identifying what organizational, cultural and social factors besides the technology influence the obtaining of effects and how to approach these in this mutual adaptation process we address as the implementation process. I believe that to obtain the best implementation results it is necessary to involve the users and personnel thus I work with how this can be done in a productive way.

My PhD project is so far called:
Effects-driven IT development and implementation in an organizational context.

My previous main research focus (though I still work and publish in this area) has been on IT support of shared care initiatives. Sometimes shared care is termed integrated care. The point is to IT support enhanced communication and cooperation between the primary health care sector (GPs) and the secondary heath care sector (hospitals). See publications for further information or the thesis.
